Why the rush? Take your time.

When guiding I always tell people to take time to look around them before rushing off to start casting. The piece of water in this picture is adjacent to the car park, the cars have to drive within a few feet of the water to park. Everyone rushes off to the main sections of the river or the carriers without even looking at this water. There are some very nice fish that hide up in this spot - they have everything that they need, oxygenated water, food and cover. They didn't expect  my daughter. Unfortunately  you have to fish light, big fish and a lack of experience the result was my daughter was broken off (she wasn't, the fly was).

I have also lost fish at this spot, I believe it was the same fish that was responsible for a size18 gnat being straightened out! No excuse.
